Pingo Privacy Policy

This policy explains the current public behavior of Pingo, a paid Android network-diagnostics application. It is written for clarity and describes what the app does today.

Introduction and scope

Pingo does not require an account. It includes no advertising, product analytics, anonymous installation identity, or sale of user data. The app is designed to remain useful when a Pingo server is unavailable.

Paid application and stores

Pingo may be distributed through Google Play, Cafe Bazaar, Myket, or other approved stores. A store may process payment, account, and refund information under its own policy. Pingo does not receive your store credentials.

Data processed by Pingo

Network diagnostics are processed locally. A user-entered target, resolved address, replies, latency, packet loss, terminal output, and summary are used to produce the requested result on the device. A Ping creates normal network traffic to the selected destination; it is not permission to probe a network without authorization.

• No location, SSID, BSSID, SIM identifier, IMEI, serial number, or other device identifier is collected for Pingo features.
• Pingo does not perform a public-IP lookup.
• Pingo does not upload Ping targets, results, History, Favorites, or Recent Targets.

Local features

History, Favorites, and Recent Targets: records are stored locally for the features you choose and are not uploaded.

Current Network: available network diagnostics are inspected locally and are not sent to Pingo.

Alert When Online: monitoring runs through an Android foreground service and uses notifications. The optional success alert is bundled in the application; it is not downloaded or uploaded.

Android permissions and backup

Pingo uses network access for user-requested diagnostics, notification permission where Android requires it, vibration for the configured alert behavior, and the foreground-service permission for monitoring. It does not request storage, location, microphone, camera, or contact permissions. Sensitive local records are excluded from cloud backup by the app’s backup rules as implemented.

Backend communication

The current application does not require a backend for local Ping, History, Favorites, Recent Targets, or monitoring. Any future non-blocking service will be documented before it changes this policy. The public release does not send analytics or identity-registration events.

Sharing and selling

Pingo does not sell personal data and does not share local diagnostic records with Pingo, advertisers, data brokers, or other parties. Network operators and selected targets may observe ordinary traffic as part of the network itself.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain until you delete them through the app, clear application data, or uninstall the app, subject to Android behavior. Clearing History removes saved History records; Favorites and Recent Targets have their own local controls.

Security

We minimize data by keeping diagnostics local and limiting permissions. No claim of encryption at rest is made beyond Android’s own platform behavior.

Children and international use

Pingo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect children’s personal data. You are responsible for using the app lawfully in your location and for targets you are authorized to test.

Policy changes

Material changes will be reflected on this page and in current store documents. Historical release records are not silently rewritten.
